It is the short form of Production Parts Approval Process. It is the process of getting approval from customer before mass production of a part. PPAP requirement is mentioned in IATF clause 8.3.4.4 - Product approval process. The main purpose of PPAP is to determine that 1) All customer engineering design record and specification requirements are properly understood by the supplier. 2) And the supplier manufacturing process has the capability to produce product consistently meeting these requirements during an actual production run at the quoted production rates.
