A VGA cable carries video signals from a computer display output, normally a computer monitor. VGA carries red, green and blue video signals with two timing signals. As well as computer outputs, VGA is sometimes used for other video equipment.

VGA carries a variety of resolutions up to and beyond HD video resolution. In 2010, VGA is losing popularity as increasing numbers of computer manufacturers add either DVI or HDMI ports to their products. Although VGA will remain in use for many years to come, it looks likely that it will not be the connection of choice within the next few years.
