go to mr briney and take the boat to slateport. go into this tall brown building and talk to dock. (just walk straight in and walk straight up and dock is there in front of a table) then go to the museum above it and fight the magma/aqua grunts. then its pretty straight forward work it out yourself just go north till you reach mauville
