I've had The Sims 3 since June 12th of 2009, and so far the only creatures in the game are ghosts. However, you can make the ghosts playable characters, and they can have children and lead their own lives (if you make them playable). You can also make your sim's skin a zombie toned color, blue, red, as well as green (like an alien's), but I doubt that actually counts as a "creature."
By the way, the only way to make ghosts playable characters (I think) is after your sim dies (about five or so days after), your other sims will get a phone call from the science building stating that you can turn them into playable ghosts. Then you take your sims headstone (meaning, put it in your inventory by clicking on it and selecting "pick up") and go down to the science building with it.
If you have Late Night you can have vampires. When the new Supernatural comes out (September 6th) you can have werewolfs, fairies, witches, and more 'scary' vampires. I think that with the new vampires you can bite sims without needing to be friends with them.**** hope this helped!
