What are the different effects of Yu-gi-oh monster cards?

The effect of monster cards are really difficult to understand for beginners because it is so wide. i can only give you some information. well basically, monsters has an attack and defense points cos what they really have to do is be present on the field to attack and defend. however, the effect of a certain monster is kinda like giving it a more precious value and edge. For beginner, you must at least know the different card types. Monster Effects are kinda like having a monster cards with a Magic or Trap Card effect in them. Some may lack in attack and defense but has a very good effect that may help you.

The Monster Cards' effect can affect the lifepoints of players, their turn (from Draw Phase to End Phase), the player's hand (or the cards in the player's hand), the deck, any cards or parts of the field, any other cards of you and your opponents and their effects depending on what they say in each card.

Here are their types: (which i made out myself just for clarifications)

Continuous (e.g. WALL OF ILLUSION)

these monsters has their effects activated if the conditions are met.

Flip (e.g. MAN EATER BUG)

the word FLIP is the first word written in the Monster's description box. Flip effects has very good and powerful effect that can only be used rarely. its 1st condition is to put the monster in face down defense position. Face Down Defense Position is also called Set. The effect will activate if an opponent's monster attack it during your opponent's turn or you turn it Face Up Attack Position on your turn. in some instances, some cards may change it's position and activate it's effect simultaneously (e.g. the effect of STOP DEFENSE). however, if this cards is not attacked and is destroyed by other ways, it's effect is not activated.

Magic Power Counter

Magic Power Counter is the newest of the 3. it is somewhat an effect that is limited to use. it also differ from each Monster card. some cards gather it as a requirement to activate it's effect. other disposes of it to activate their effects and others give it to other cards. Alien Deck is famous for using and manipulating it.
