The earth is a sattelite of the sun, the sun is a sattelite of the supermassive black hole in the center of our galaxy, and our galaxy is either a sattelite galaxy of another or has smaller sattelite galaxies, I can never remember which. Then there are artificial (manmade) sattelites which are machines put in orbit by people to perform various tasks, be it to observe the cosmos more clearly without having the distortion of the atmosphere, send communications around the globe or spy on people, lol.
