First you will need to get your pokenav in Rustboro City. Then when you battle trainers (including Gym Leaders,) some will register themselves in your pokenav. If they do, you will need to wait some time until you see a red flag next to there name. When the red flag appears, then you can rebattle that trainer. The pokenav will also show the trainer's location.
