If you have Seasons, you get weather. Rain (and thunderstorms, hail, lightning), snow. There is even a reward object they can get to change the weather, or extend a season. You can also set the seasons for a neighborhood. The default for a standard hood is the usual order - Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring - but you can mix them up, or even leave one out, having two or more of another. For example, in the mountain vacation hood, it's always Fall and Winter (Bon Voyage), and in the island one, always summer. For someplace like Strangetown, winter would be weird, so I set that to Summer/Summer/Fall/Spring.
Oh, there are some fun behaviors with Seasons as well. They like seeing weather, for one. They can splash in puddles, be killed by lightning or hail, make snowmen and snow angels, etc. They learn skills faster in the fall, and spring is better for romance. They can also get too cold or too hot, and have a little thermometer that you can watch to monitor this. Cooling down in a shower or pool is good, or a cold drink, and a warm fire or hot cocoa helps them warm up faster. Lightning, besides being potential death, can also start a fire.
