I won a Tough Contest Master Rank with this.

Armaldo@Yellow Scarf - Ancientpower, Scratch, Ancientpower, Scratch, Takedown

(GameShark for Takedown)

You can also use - Ancientpower ,Tackle, Iron Defense, Tackle, Iron Defense though you may have to cheat to get a Pokemon to learn these moves.

A Banette using Curse, Spite, Curse, Spite, Destiny Bond worked for my friend.

A Swampert with Strength, Take Down, Bide, and Rain Dance won for me.

A Solrock with Harden, Tackle, Rock Throw, and Rock Slide worked for me (won the master rank).

With this moveset, in the earlier contest levels (like normal and super), you do not need to improve Solrock's condition at all and should win very easily.

If that is the case and you place last going into round two:

1. Start off with Rock slide to jam your opponents (1 heart, or 2 if the crowd is watching, and 3 jam). By the second part of round two, you should be first in line to perform or at least in the top half of the group.

2. Use Harden which gives 2 hearts (3 if the crowd is watching) and protects Solrock from being startled once.

3. Follow up with Tackle. Since this is a move combo, you get double the hearts. This means 8 hearts (or 9 if the crowd is watching) because there are four hearts as a base plus four for using the move after harden

4 and 5. For the rest of the contest you can use either of the combos harden and tackle or rock throw and rock slide depending on your situation. I like to use the harden and tackle combo if I'm placed in the first half and the rock throw and rock slide combo if I'm placed in the second half of the group.

If you place first going into round two:

1. Use harden which gives 2 hearts (3 if the crowd is watching) and protects Solrock from being startled once.

2. Follow up with Tackle. Since this is a move combo, you get double the hearts. This means 8 (or 9 if the crowd is watching) because there are four hearts as a base plus four for using the move after harden.

3. After using tackle, you should be at the top of the line again, so just repeat the combo until the end. But really, for the rest of the contest you can use either of the combos: harden and tackle or rock throw and rock slide depending on your situation. I like to use the harden and tackle combo if I'm placed in the first half and the rock throw and rock slide combo if I'm placed in the second half of the group.

And if you place either 2nd or 3rd going into the second round of the contest:

Do what seems fit. Start off like either of the two methods listed above. Like I said before, I like to use the harden and tackle combo if I'm placed in the first half (see the second method). If I'm placed in the second half I will either use the first method as listed above or the rock throw and rock slide combo. If you choose to use Rock throw first, it automatically gives 2 hearts and more depending on how well the front performs. If you use rock slide right after, you'll get 2 instead of one heart (like in the first step of method one) and still the 3 jam since they are a combo.

These are just suggestions on how to win the tough contest with Solrock but if you find a style that suits you, by all means use it!

Also, what I like to do it to have each pokemon dedicated to a certain thing. For example, my daily party does not focus on contests AT ALL. They are strictly for battling. I have pokemon specifically dedicated to contests. This is because some moves that are good for battling are not good for contests and vice versa. (ex. My master rank Skitty can easily win a contest, but in a battle it WILL die since it knows no attack moves :P)

Also, in contests I try to have a specific pokemon for each contest type.

For example, Skitty is strictly for cute contests, Solrock strictly for tough, and so on.

So, you must be extremely bored if you read all that but anyways, have lots of fun playing and good luck getting that painting!

How do you win the hyper rank in Pokemon sapphire?

In any contest rank the goal is to win but how to win? Feed your Pokemon pokeblocks for the correct contest your entering Example: Tough contest you must feed sour pokeblocks to your Pokemon. Now if you feed them very good level pokeblocks and less feel pokeblocks you can go to slateport city and go in the Pokemon fan club show the gentleman your Pokemon and he will reward you with a yellow scarf, have your Pokemon hold this scarf and now teach your Pokemon tough moves Example: Waterfall is a tough move or tackle or take down. Finally use the tough moves in the contest and try your best to get the crowd goind for you and you will win.

What moves are the best for Pokemon contest in ruby?

Well, your question can't be answered unless you're more specific. Different moves apply to the different types of Contests, those being: Tough, Smart, Cool, Beauty, and Cute. For instance, if you want a Pokemon to enter the "Tough" Contest, it is best to teach it moves such as Rollout, Double-Edge, Take-down, and so on. Likewise, moves such as "Charm" or "Attract" will do best in "Cute" Contests. There are many helpful sites on the internet that will give you walkthroughs and FAQ's which should address your other questions. :)
