It can be a good deck. you just need the cards to go with it. Like you need Quilbolt hedgehog, hes a good card to go with a synchron deck. also junk, Nitro, Road, Turbo, Quick, and hyper Synchrons. and then you need cards that help bring them out.

Well you want have all the yusei cards,but put in srap iron scarecrow,junk sychron,road warrior sychron,drill sychcron,and Road Warrior and Junk Warrior.The others just get the starter deck in the game on Yugioh 5D's Reverse of Arcadia Deck or just get the yugioh tin new model.

It does not matter how many old cards you have in your deck. Cards should be chosen in relation to the type of card strategy you plan to use. However, you definitely need to keep you deck up to date if you plan to compete against high level players.
