Pat Sajak and Vanna White have been the only Hosts of the nighttime syndicated Wheel of Fortune show which is considered to be different from the earlier Daytime show that the were also hosts for. Chuck Woolery and Susan Stafford were the original Host and Hostess of the Daytime show although Edd Bymes hosted 2 pilots. Before Vanna White replaced Susan Stafford there were a couple of temporary hostesses (Vicki McCarty and Summer Bartholomew) After Pat Sajak left in 1989 to host a late night talk show Rolf Benirschke replaced Pat Sajak the next day and continued to host for 6 months until he was replaced by Bob Goen when the show was cancelled and then picked up by CBS. There was also an April's Fool's Day episode where Alex Trebek was the host and Pat Sajak's wife Lesly Brown Sajak was the hostess. Alex Trebek also filled in for Chuck Woolery for a week in 1980

This was many years ago in the earlyseventies and a time when TV show pilots were not aired and instead shown to test audiences. The actual show was never released in a format close to the first test pilot except for Chuck Woolery being the host. Unlike the actual first show, the first pilot had a vertically-mounted wheel.Edd Byrnes hosted the second and third pilots, both titled Wheel of Fortune.
