There are quite a few differences between the two HERO archetypes:The design of "Elemental HERO" (E-HERO) cards are based on anime and manga superheroes. The designs for the "Destiny HERO" (D-HERO) cards are based on British references and anti-heroes (such as D-HERO Double Dudereferring to Dr.Jekylland Mr. Hyde).Thematically speaking, E-HERO cards rely more heavily on Fusion and feature many Normal Monsters with different attributes. D-HEROes, on the other hand, swarm the field to provide tributes for their more powerful counterparts such as Dreadmaster, Plasma, and Dogma. They also rely on "destiny" with many of their card effects resolving at a later point from when they were activated (i.e. Defender and Doom Lord) or relying on chance (i.e. Dasherand Diamond Dude). Many cards specially target E-HEROes while others are made for D-HEROes.D-HEROes tend to have low ATK and DEF; as such they do not fare well in battle and rely on other cards to stall the battle or feature benefits by being seeing sent to the Graveyard. E-HEROes have higher ATK and have card effects such as Skyscraperand Flame Wingmanthat incentives you to attack.
