How does the NeverMeltIce repel fire?

First, Did you attach the NeverMeltIce to the Pokemon?

Steps to NeverMeltIce success:

Step#1) Select the Pokemon you would like to give NeverMeltIce to (let's use Beartic as our example).

Step#2) Click Give Item to Pokemon (Simple).

Step#3) Select the NeverMeltIce in your bag.

Now you have given Beartic NeverMeltIce.

Do you know how to cause the effect? Once Beartic is in battle against a fire Pokemon the item will know when to be used. Lets say your Beartic is battling a Simisear. Simisear used Flamethrower! But Simisear's Flamethrower won't work because the NeverMeltIce prevented it!
