Just where would you get the information to update it from without the internet. The system can not be updated without it being downloaded and then loaded into the PS3. I'm not trying to give you a hard time it's just that you need the internet just to read this answer. Sony PlayStation network has a section devoted to system software updates and support. They have PC update method and Disc update method as well as system update method. A link to this information has been added under related links
I have another suggestion for an easy update method if you have a friend with a TV and a WiFi connection. Just take your PS3 over to there house and hook it up and download and update. Because after reading the other methods this seems much easier for someone without the internet. Also you will need the internet just to download the information.
well you get a usb stick make a folder on it called ps3 all in caps then in that folder make another called update all in caps go to the Internet and download the one you want put it in the folder update unplug your usb plug it in your ps3 go to system update go to from media accept the terms and conditions install it after 4 beeps your ps3 will restart now you have a jailbroken ps3 :D
Actually no
you need to update the system. then it will install the new update. or it could be the smudges on the disk
no the PS3 can not go backward to an earlier configuration after an update like you can a pc
See related link for help setting up the PS3 internet connection
To update your PS3 you will either need an internet connection to your PS3 or access to a computer with internet and a USB memory stick. If you have an internet connection to your PS, simply go to settings on the XMB and select system update at the top of the list. Select download from internet, follow the on screen instructions, and the update will download and install. To install off a memory stick download the update to the stick from Playstation's website. Then plug in the stick into your PS3 and select system update from the XMB. When prompted select install from memory stick and follow the instructions to install the update.
By asking the administrator.
You can not revert the PS3 update
No, your ps3 has nothing to do with my Internet (which is working fine).
If you go to [settings] in the XMB (menu) and go all the way to the top you should see an icon that says [system update].
Yes, but you will have to have the latest system update. To get system updates you need to connect your PlayStation to the internet. After you download and install the update you will be able to play 3d movies and games on a 3D TV using your PS3.
You can only update the PS3 manually either by initiating it from the System Update menu in the XMB (via internet or from an insertable storage media), or responding to an update message when you login to your PSN account. Either way, the update shows its progress on your screen as it happens, and turning your PS3 off in the middle of an update can cause a lot of problems (loss of data type problems).
Yes it is free you only pay for the internet broadband you use like evry time you go on the internet. This is why the ps3 rules because psn is free where as xbox live is not!!!
Just like a PC might run Windows as it's operating system, a PS3 has Firmware. If you have an internet connection on your PS3, you'll get a notification saying that your PS3's firmware needs to update automatically. If not, try pressing "Software Update" at the top of the Settings bar and seeing if there are any new updates. If you don't have an internet connection, you can download the latest firmware from the Sony PS3 website, put it on a flash drive and then insert that into your PS3 and install it from there. http://uk.playstation.com/help-support/ps3/system-software/download/
there is a software update for your ps3 that must be done in order to get this drop....go to settings then go to the very top option "System Settings" than click update via internet than begin your update! (:
It takes a few minutes for each step if you have an online connection
To the best of my knowledge, the only way to update any PS3 game is to have your PS3 connected to the internet. If your console is connected to the internet, it will automatically install any game updates available when you select the game from the main menu. If you do not have internet connectivity, I do not think you are able to update your games.
