Ads describing features for the PS3 contain the following footnote: Video output in HD requires cables and an HD-compatible display, both sold separately. Full HD 1080p requires an HDMI cable and a 1080p native display with an HDMI input supporting HDCP. Copy-protected Blu-ray video discs can only output at 1080p using an HDMI cable connected to a device that is compatible with the HDCP standard. This means in order to set up your PS3 to play Blue Ray Discs you need a HDTV that gets 1080P and is able to be connected to the PS3 with a HDMI cable, or that the HDTV has an HDMI input and you have used it to connect it to the PS3.

NO...read the boxes of the set(s) it will tell you that drums and guitars are not compatible between PS2 and PS3. Not backwards or forwards, it's a money grab technique

Updates and patches are downloaded from the PlayStation network. The PS3 system will automatically update when a new version comes out. Game patches will download when you launch the game, if you have PlayStation Plus your PS3 can be set to automaticly check for patches for games you own and download them in the background.
Unfortunately, PlayStation Portables do not have a setup button on it. However, pressing the select button on the main menu works as the setup button if your PSP is modified.
The settings menu has the ability to turn off both the PlayStation 3 and the controllers when not in use. You must set both to turn off if you want them to do so.
