Go into the Bag and select the item you no longer want by pressing A. You can select the Trash option to remove the item entirely. Another more useful way is to sell your items at a Pokemon Mart. The last way is to place them in your PC (your pc will have your trainer name, in example "ASH's PC").
Choose your PC and select Deposit Items and select your unwanted items and deposit them. This is useful because the items are still within your possession but just not in your Bag therefore if you ever want it back you can take it back by using Withdraw Items.
