Assuming you're referring to Defense of the Ancients, it's free, but the game that plays it is not.Basically, you have to have Warcraft 3, but DOTA itself is free, you just can play it.
yes you can, but why would you waste your time pretending to be a rock star when you could go play world of warcraft?
In Windows, Warcraft is generally installed and also has an Uninstall utility. This can be found by either hitting the Windows button and going to the Warcraft 3 program; there should be an uninstaller as well. Alternatively, you can go to Start/Windows, and then the Control Panel. Go to the Software option, and find Warcraft 3 there. There should be a button that allows you to uninstall the game from here as well.
Dota is a custom game created using the warcraft 3 world editor. If you want to edit dota, you need to purchase warcraft 3. Dota is a protected map, you can not edit it!
To play DotA one must simply own the game Warcraft 3 and the Frozen throne expansion. The user must open a battlenet account (ingame) and download the DotA map. Maps can be downloaded from getdota.com After downloading the map be sure to move the file into the Warcraft 3 maps folder. Do this by double-clicking "my computer" and navigating to the proper folder and then dragging the file in.
