The only way to get Snorlax out of the way is use the PokeFlute, which will wake up Snorlax and forcing you to battle it. Once captured or defeated, Snorlax will be gone and you are clear to go through the road. The PokeFlute can be obtained by saving Mr. Fuji in the Lavender Tower.
