I think it's because your friend has to make a hamachi network, and you need to join it.
bukkit hamachi or regular? try looking on youtube
That depends on whether it's a bukkit or hamachi. If its hamachi just op yourself on the window where it says loading spawn area because basically op is admin on hamachi so if you are op you basically own a hamachi server.
make sure that your hamachi server is on and that you gave him the right ip
No, you do not. You can host a Minecraft server as long as you have connection. Please note that you need to open your ports on your router to make a Minecraft server. If you do not have access to this, you can download a VPN-software like Hamachi or Cisco.
Don't... make another server and simply use the Hamachi IP in the Server.properties.
A hamachi server is just a normal server. But to play on it, you must download hamachi. Basically, it is a very very easy way to make servers. It is how I make mine. Many server tutorials tell you to use hamachi because it is easier. If you need it, ask me for more details.

Hi i can walk you through how to make your own server it will be bukkit and i can make groups and so much more add me on skype: ovechking899
You would first need to download the server client for hexxit. Next you would set it up as you would a vanilla minecraft server, which can be done via port-forwarding or via hamachi.
To make a non-Hamachi server easily on the game "Minecraft" you will need the programs "Bukkit" and "D.U.C". Once both programs are downloaded, create a new notepad and add "Change -Xmx****M". To properly format this command, change it to a value of ram where the server is to be allocated.
