Well couches haven't yet been added as craftable items in minecraft Beta and may never even become official items, however a common alternative can be helpful if you are looking for just a decorative couch. Go into your crafting table and craft wooden stairs. If you don't know how use the link below to help you. Then place the stairs where you want them in the shape of your couch. Then craft 2 signs for the arm rests. You have to place the signs right on the side of the stairs, (don't place it a full block away.) Then you can add items like a table using a block of plain wood for extra. Hoped this helped.
