How do you get to use the cannon in world 1 in new super Mario bros wii?

You have to unlock the cannon first to use it. To unlock it you have to go to world 1-3. When you start the level get a mushroom. run past or kill all the baddies until you get to a Yoshi. Once you get this Yoshi keep him. Right before you get to the 3rd star coin, you'll see a small ledge. If you jump on it you can run through a small hidden area if, if you get to run through it you are on the right one. Now run back out to the small ledge, but don't run off of it. With your Yoshi press and hold the jump button (2 without a nunchuck, A with a nunchuck) and hold right. This should make you end up on top of the hidden area. Keep going right and you should reach a tunnel. Go through it and reach the flag and you should have the cannon unlocked. Now ti use the cannon walk up to it and start the level. Then you should walk forward until you see World-5. Jump into it and you just used the cannon!
