After downloading the map, go to your start menu and type in %appdata% into the search/run bar. After clicking enter, go into .minecraft and then into the folder titled Saves. Next, go to your Downloads folder in a different window and drag the map file into your Saves folder. After doing this, it should show up on Singleplayer maps! It is also possible that you may need to open the .rar file and take out a folder to use. To do this, you would need a program such as WinRAR or 7zip. After opening the map file, drag the folder into your Saves folder under .minecraft. It works pretty much the same way.
