Route 218 is a short bridge-like route in Sinnoh that links its eastern terminus, Jubilife City and the nearby western terminus, Canalave City. TheOld Rod may be obtained from a fisherman in the gate connecting the route to Jubilife City. In the other gate, connecting to Canalave City, Professor Rowan's assistant will update the player's Pokédex. Although this route is accessible early in the game it is not traversable because progress is blocked by water. To reach the west side and continue on to Canalave City, the HM Surf is required
