That's easy. All you have to do is walk (or run) into the mirror wall to control whether or not u want to be in the real castle room or the reflection of the room. To get to the reflection where Lakitu is, you have to have the power flower that makes you invisible and walk or run into the mirror. You'll find a couple of power flowers in the room. It doesn't require the power flower to get back to the original room. This only works when Luigi has his hat on. If not, there will be no power flowers in the room.

Well he white room is only in super mario 64 ds, but you need luigi to get to it. It is located on the second floor in the room where the mirrors are.
