Near Goldenrod, there should be a 'strange tree' or something similar to that blocking your path. Defeat the Goldenrod gym leader, get the badge, then go to the Goldenrod Flower Shop. There, the lady will give a squirt bottle. Return to the 'strange tree' and spray it. The 'tree' will move, and attack. It should be a sudowoodo, if I'm not mistaken.
