I believe you have to connect it under device settings under the settings menu. As headsets are connected this way, if its wireless or not. If its wired, the USB port will generally pickup the device and automatically bring up the register device menu.
Please note: YOU WILL NEED AN ORIGINAL PS3 CONTROLLER TO DO THIS PROCESS
