You need the little signal finder thing.
It plugs in just like a ps2 controller, but there are no wires (hence, wireless). Press the little button to check it's working (it will flash red) and then turn on the guitar from the side, at the bottom. When you press a button on the guitar, both the guitar and the wireless finder (I don't know the name of it) should both flash red.
If you don't have the little square thing to plug in... you're pretty screwed. Perhaps you could find one on eBay or something, but I'm not sure many people would sell one without the guitar.

You just plug in the receiver in Port 1. Then you turn on your PS2 and the Guitar and it's receiver will connect by them self..

Yes, you need a guitar hero wireless control, or a guitar hero USB microphone, or guitar hero drumset. You cannot play with the wii remote alone.
