You have to connect it with a ethernet cord ... the cord looks like a phone cord but the tip (head) is much fatter...

Try putting your TV's input on HDMI then switch off your 360 pulg in the HDMI cord then put on the 360. THis should work.
If you have a laptop, then you can plug an Ethernet cord into the Xbox and then connect it into the Laptop. Test your connection on your Xbox and you should be set.
