You have to follow the movement of the tile as it is shuffled around. It is sometimes difficult but with practice you can pick it out easily.
(If you can't see where it is moving, try picking the exact same position for 8 or 9 games and eventually you just get lucky and it is there.)

There is an axe and some armor at the top of the tall hill to the far right in 831 AD (the Viking time). To reach it, you will need the Glider Wings from Leonardo DaVinci (1516 AD, 4 o'clock on the time device). Climb to the top by the blocked cave, and leap up and right from the very edge.
