Meeting Leia:
Leia lives in Daryll's basement. You will not be able to meet her right away because Daryll locks the path the his basement. You must raise Daryll to at least 100FP. At that point you will be able to enter the basement in his home and meet Leia. The basement entrance is underneath a gray tile on the floor of his home.

-To activate Leia's Yellow Heart Event you will need to catch a Bottled Message. To get that go fishing at the beach during Spring with a
Mystrile level Fishing Pole or better. Leia must have at least a Yellow Heart with Leia to catch one.
-Leia is a Special Marriage candidate so she does not have a Rival.
-Besdies all the normal requirements Leia also has an extra marriage requirement. You must hire Gotz to build the Duck Pond on your farm.
-If you marry Leia she will live in the Duck Pond. If there is a storm the Duck Pond can be destroyed and Leia will vanish.
-Even though she is a mermaid Leia will have a child the same way all the other girls do.

If you're good friends with him, you will be allowed to enter his basement, where the first cutscene with Leia the Mermaid will be activated. His favorite item is a fish, if you want to give him gifts to raise his friendship points.
How do you unlock the mermaid in Harvest Moon DS?
Get Daryl (the freaky scientist who lives in the tin house) to 100 FP. He likes grass a lot and also your dog. Once you get to 100 FP (you will know because he will start telling you different things) press A in front of the trapdoor in the left corner. It sort of looks like a vent... This will lead to the basement, and the mermaid, Leia, will be in a bathtub there. If Daryl gets below 100 FP, I think it locks again. Just talk to him whenever you see the mermaid and it should be fine.
