yes you can, here is what to do:
1)catch giratina.
2)complete the league.
3)go through turn back cave.
4)go through that blue portle.
5)walk till you find a pokeball (press A) on it
then you get the griseous orb.

Yes it has to hold the Griseous Orb to stay in the Origin Forme or else it will stay in its Altered Forme. Unless you plan to stay for the rest of your virtual game life in Pokemon Platinum in the Distortion World where you obtained the Griseous Orb.
