It is impossible to get the cake in Portal.
EDIT: actually, there are several ways to get the cake. Most are cheats, but I saw a YouTube video where you can get the cake without a cheat. It's hard, but not impossible. Try Google searching "how to get the cake in portal"
Just playing Portal the regular way though, you do not get the cake.
But as GLaDOS says, "the cake was never a lie."
If you can get to the cake room, you also get the companion cube!
