No you can be a free player. To join just click the shiny badge with the M on it on the top right hand corner. Answer all the questions and your an agent. You get your own HQ and a spy phone. You can use this to teleport. You also get to do missions and earn things. You also get 250 coins a month. In the HQ there is a command room and if you are a member then you can buy secret agent clothes.
