As of January 31, 2019, the ability to purchase Wii Points and redeem them on the Wii Shop Channel has been discontinued. However, if you have an existing balance of Wii Points on your account, you can still use them to purchase content on the Wii Shop Channel until it is officially closed. It is no longer possible to add more Wii Points to your account or purchase new content directly on the Wii console.
