How does charge dock work for PS3?
It plugs into a wall plug and the controllers go on the dock. It is not part of the PS3 and not connected to it. All it does is recharge the PS3 controllers

The same is not true for controllers which will continue to remain on when you turn the PS3 off unless you go to the PS3 setting and set it to automatically turn off the controllers. The other accessories should work just like the controllers.
