Can Scyther evolve in Pokemon FireRed?

Yes. Put simply, you need to trade it with a Metal Coat. If you don't have this item, follow my instructions below:

You have to get the National Pokedex and Rainbow Pass.

1. Get a Scyther from the Game Corner (If you don't already have it)

2. Go to 5 Island.

3. Walk through 5 Island Meadow until you find the Rocket Warehouse, but don't go in.

4. Look to the right of the Warehouse. you will see water that is not blocked in by submerged boulders.

5. Surf a little way and there will be a tiny island covered in tall grass, walk along it downward and use surf downwards when you get to the end.

6. You should see another island, on this you should find a completely obvious pile of rocks, next to that is a boy, talk to him. He tells you that the rock pile is a memorial for his dead Onix ( Called Memorial Pillar on your Map) He will then give you the item Metal Coat.

7. Give this to Scyther and trade with another FR/LG, it will evolve. Trade it back.
