While there are many types of games, Board Games, card games, Video Games, and so forth. Computer games AREN'T video games, despite the following reason: n. An electronic or computerized game played by manipulating images on a video display or television screen.

This states computerized game, as opposed to the factor in question, computer games. The difference being one is computerized and the other means designed to be played on a computer.

Video games are played generally on a console or handheld device, while Computer games are played on a computer.

It would seem to me that the above poster is confusing the term "Video games", with "Console games" and possibly not differentiating between "Computer games" and "Personal Computer Games" and is also possibly unclear on the definition of computerized: "Convert to a system that is operated or controlled or processed by computer"

A video game is generally defined as "an electronic game that involves human interaction with a user interface to generate visual Feedback on a video device."

A video device in this sense is a computer monitor, a TV or a screen on a handheld device.

In short, yes, in modern speech, the term computer game is synonymous with video game.
