Mostly because people preferred to buy their cold coffee drinks from Starbucks (which was marketed in supermarkets by Pepsi) or they didn't like the taste (Coca-Cola and coffee? No thanks). It was pulled from North American shelves in 2007, but (strangely) continues to sell extremely well in France.

It's sold well enough for them to keep it in their product mix for ten years, and it's still available--I have some in my home right now. I don't think it's a failure.
