1958. The original McDonald's in Hamden CT was a fine example of the original stainless steel building with illuminated golden arches overhead. It stood on the exact location where Popeye's Chicken is today, on the split section of Dixwell Avenue between the intersections of Skiff and Shepard. The replacement/current McDonald's was built in the late 70's, 1000 feet south of the old one. The original McDonald's was sadly destroyed. :-(
