Is 250ml of ice cream the same as 250g?

Milliliter(ml) is a unit of volume and gram(g) is a unit of mass. Since both quantities are different so we can't relate these two directly. So there is no way by which relation can be formed between these two.

However there is one way by which these can be relate: by introduction of another term which is 'density'.

Density(ρ), as we know, is equal to Mass(M)/Volume(V).

And Mass, from the above relation, can written as V x ρ, i.e. M = V x ρ

Putting M = 125 g and V = 250 ml, we get:

125 = 250 x ρ

ρ = 125/250 g/ml = 0.5 g/ml

So 125 g is equal to 250 ml only if density of the substance is 0.5 g/ml.

250ml of ice cream is 250 gm of ice cream. A litre is 1,000 ml and weighs 1,000 gm ( at sea level on a sunny day )
