128 oz.
You might think the answer is 64 ounces, since a true gallon is 128, but ice cream has fallen subject to the same downsizing as so many other consumer packaged goods. Think of "Half Gallons" as a sub-category used to separate items from "Pints" and "Novelty" within the larger category of "Ice Cream." Now, most items in the Half Gallon category have been downsized to 56 or 48 ounces, though this has provided an opportunity for others to advertise that their half gallons are actual 64 oz half gallons. Each company decides what to do based on how they want to be viewed in the consumer's mind in terms of price/value/quality.
