The reason for Standardized Measures, is that anyone, anywhere can follow a recipe and have all the ingredients measured without any guess work or error. Metric measures are the best. Therefore a cup is 250 milliliters (mls). 1 Litre (L) is 1000 mls. Therefore there are 4 cups in 1 L.

Get with it folks, go metric and life will be so much easier.
