The smell test is the best test. If it smells spoiled, it probably is. The average number of days the milk is still good after the expiration date is usally 3-4. I noticed that fat free or skim lasts longer than the regular high fat milk

More informationAround here, the date on the milk carton is a not an expiration date. If it was of initial good quality and has been handled and stored properly, the milk should be OK up to 5 days or even a week beyond the date on the package.

A week or two even milk is still good after the expiration date.

believe it or not, but milk is good for about a week or more after the expiration date as long as the lid is on good and it's properly refrigerated. but typically its not a good idea to test this just every time

Milk should only be kept no more than five days after exp date! It also must be kept cold. If milk has set out long enough to not feel ice box cold toss it!
