We have a small chest freezer for extra storage. I like to break down and package our meat in freezer bags to store. (there are only two of us)
I went to get a package out of the freezer and it was stuck to the bottom (higher side thank goodness) anyway tried the internet to find an answer and failed so I would like to share my experience with you.
I got out a plastic scraper and my meat mallot a few taps around the package and it was out!
Sometimes cleaning the freezer is the most grueling chore. However, cleaning your freezer should not be a hard thing to do. All you need to do is to have lots of newspapers, a pair of tongs, Glycerin, Baking soda and Aluminum foil and to follow these easy steps.
• Switch off your freezer at the wall, prop the freezer door open and place a piece of newspaper on the floor in front of the freezer to absorb any dripping water.
• Take out any food inside and place them temporarily inside a cooler to prevent spoilage.
• Take out any shelves or ice trays. While the ice starts to melt, place a clean washing bowl in the bottom of the freezer and, wearing rubber gloves, put the ice into it. This saves running to the sink with handfuls of ice and avoids the hazard of a wet floor. Use the tongs to reach those difficult corners.
• After defrosting the freezer, brush the surface with a little glycerin over the inside. This will allow the ice to fall off in sheets and reduce defrosting time the next time you clean your freezer. To stop ice-trays from sticking in the ice-box, put a piece of aluminum foil underneath.
• Wipe the inside of the freezer with a little cold water containing baking soda to keep it fresh and clean.
• Put the food back in, and switch the freezer back on.
Cleaning the freezer need not be a hard thing. All you need to do is have patience while waiting for the long defrosting time, but that could be remedied by just doing other things that are just as important. In any case, defrosting does not require you to do anything but wait. Once defrosting starts just follow the tips above and you will be able to finish cleaning the fridge in just a matter of minutes.
