These people did not go to Troy and seem eager to hear of the stories from this war.The Scylla appears in the story after Odysseus, on his last ship, have just succeeded avoiding the tempting siren's song, and chose to sail past the Scylla and Charbydis instead of through the Clashing Rocks (which Circe said they'd never survive).
