in a good way it helps people research stuff for school, play games, contact people, it lets you write documents and much much more.

in a bad way it keeps you away from going outside and talking face to face with people and ruins your grammar and if you stay on it long enough it can damage your grades, keep you from doing homework and it can ruin your eye sight.

Like Television computers can destroy communication. Unlike Television computers are more of an individual experience and are therefore in a sense worse. Computer addiction can effectively lead to a placing of the computer over the relationship to the person with the addiction. Even if there is no addiction the computer may become an 'interest' which takes valuable time which might otherwise have been directed to improving or fostering a good relationship. The person who is excluded may to a degree feel as if they are a 'nothing' compared to the computer or at least that they are of lesser importance than the computer. If children are involved this may have a detrimental affect on the whole family, especially if the computer is like a 'god' to the person with the problem, who may then in their own mind find means to downplay the natural concerns of the other partner or treat them as if they are 'crazy' for being concerned.
