Yes!! Australia did have a revolution which few people even know about.

The revolution otherwise known as the Eureka Stockade occurred in 1854 and remains the largest uprising in Australian history.

It was fought by miners who were being too heavily taxed in the form of gold licences and not having representation, like the right to vote etc.

After several incidences like the burning down of the Eureka hotel, several skirmishes, and the oaths sworn under the Southern Cross flag the miners rallied together to form a stockade.

In this defiance the British military dispatched over 200 troops to crush the insurgents and on the 3rd Dec 1854, the battle of the Eureka Stockade was fought and lost by the miners.

This defeat led the governor to have a gold commission inquiry. After the commission was produced the miners were fitted to all the rights they desired, such as right to vote, no taxes, fewer troops on the fields, and so on.

This event is often described as the birth of democracy in Australia and though it was a battle lost it was really a war that was won.

Some of the leaders of the revolution even became political figures such as Peter Lalor who was the commander of the rebellion.

What was the impact of the industrial revolution on Australia?

Australia was not yet colonised when the Industrial Revolution occurred in England, but it was an event that had a lasting effect on the continent. Because the Industrial Revolution resulted in mass unemployment, people were forced to steal food and basic necessities in order to survive. jails (spelt gaols) were overcrowded, and England could not support or house all its petty criminals. As a result, England looked to send its convicts overas. Initially, they were sent to North America, but the American War of Independence stopped that. The "uninhabited" continent of Australia in the South Pacific was a logical choice to send the convicts, as it gave Britain a presence in the South Pacific, and provided a strategic outpost and trading port. Thus, it can be seen that, had the Industrial Revolution not occurred, it is likely that Australia would have been colonised by the French, who were certainly doing some exploration in the Pacific at the time.

Does Australia have a history of violent revolution?

No, the closest thing we had to it was a brief local uprising known as the 1854 Eureka rebellion there were less then 50 soldier in volved in it. Australia has always made its political changes through negotiation with England and has always remained an ally of it original mother country. and as a mater of fact Australia's head of state is still the monarch of England.
