Russell Hantz, who has already been on three seasons of the show in two years (Survivor: Samoa '09, Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains '10, and Survivor: Redemption Island '11), had declared that he was finished with the game of Survivor upon his departure from Redemption Island. However, recent interviews with Russell have shown that he is still very much invested in the game and may agree to come back again if certain requirements are met. "If I played again, I'd be playing with all-stars," he told the AP. "I assume, and they basically hate me. They hate me because I played the game three times in a year and a half, and they're sitting at home and they want to play. They get their feelings hurt because they pick me again. If I did ever play again, I would shut my mouth." According to an interview with Phillip Sheppard (Survivor: Redemption Island '11) on May 17th, 2011, he states that he thinks he will get back out there. "I've got a feeling that I'm going to get an invite somewhere down the road to play Survivor again." As of June 2011, Russell Hantz and Phillip Sheppard are not scheduled to return for the 23rd season of Survivor, however, it is possible they may return again in the future.
