Although he wasn't from the planet Earth, he exhibited bug (roach) like tendencies (probably because he actually was a giant roach like alien). Roaches are usually in search of water for their survival and love to eat things that are sweet.

The cricket should be no longer than the with of the geckos head. For a baby I would think pinhead crickets would be fine.
