Because there is so much to explain! My ancestors never had to answer a question like this, yet they were poor as dirt but worked with every penny to make tomorrow better. My grandfather was a bootmaker. He brought his skills to the new world, but did not have all the tools in this new country. He and his wife made babies in this new land. I'm a descendant of them. I hope my great grandfather lived a good life. All I know about him is that he made boots and shoes in New York City. I'm proud of him in 2011.
He probably never became wealthy, but I'm proud of him for living the American Dream. Without his dream and drive, I would not be alive today.
